My name is Chris Hudgins. I'm a Sport and Recreation Management Major and I am from Norfolk Virginia. I have a younger sister and a dog and I love sports, especially lacrosse. I have played lax all my life so for my narrative I have decided to either write about the lax community or about 757. In case you don't already know 757 is the Southeast region of Virginia also called Hampton Roads. It contains 7 cities which are Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Suffolk, Hampton, Newport News, Portsmouth, and Chesapeake. 757 is a very proud community and very diverse. The lax community is very proud as well and very tight knit.

    I think it would be really cool if you wrote about living in the 757. There aren't a lot of people from our class from there so it would be new and interesting information to us. I know that part of coming to college is learning about where other people are from, and its nice hearing about other's homes.

    What you wrote about the 757 is true in all aspects. Any place you go whether it's Chesapeake, Norfolk, the Beach, etc. you will find a very unique and diverse community that is accepting of one another and of visitors, especiallu during tourist season. I think this is a great topic to write about and it may be worth mentioning the great sports atmosphere the 757 brings.

    Chris, I think you could write a strong narrative on either of these topics. If you focus on the lacrosse community, you could use a personal experience and focus on one particular team that you played on OR you could look at the community at large and contrast its rules and dynamics against those of other competitive sports.

    If you write about 757, just keep in mind that you need to be able to explain how this community differs from other area codes. The characteristics that you mention - being proud and tight knit - are characteristics of most communities. Think instead about the people and what characteristics define you as a "757" beyond the location.

    I think that this will be a very interesting narrative because I always hear about the southern part of Virginia but I don't actually know what makes up that region. Even being from Virginia I have not become familiar with that part of the state and what commonalities make it into a community.
